The Hausgurd Union of the Crowns is a nation project and sovereign state, commonly referred to as a micronation by both itself and outside observers, composed of two non-contiguous claims of land, both of which are macronationally located in the United Kingdom. We attempt to mimic the characteristics of a real nation, such as a land claim and functioning government, flag, coat of arms, diplomacy, national anthem and institutions etc., etc., with the eventual aim of attaining independence from the UK.

Our History

Foundation

The Hausgurd of the Crowns originated as two separate micronations, Tipidia and Casteau. These two young micronations first came into diplomatic contact with each other some time in the February of 2020. At the time, Tipidia was a fairly simulationist state, with Casteau being slightly more serious in outlook. The leaders of the two nations befriended each other and the nations became so entwined in each other's affairs unification was a sensible decision. This they did, and, together with Taolinia, founded the Hausgurd Union of the Crowns on the 16th March 2020 under the umbrella of the older micronations of Etukan, Elysium and New Prussia. A new period in the history of the nation began.

The Early Days

The early period in the existence of the nation was eventful to say the least. The start was heralded by the landslide victory of Muchnieg Hausgurd (the leader of Tipidia), in the 1st Imperial Electoral, defeating his sole rival Joseph Peto (the lead of Casteau) with a majority of 100%. He ascended to the throne as HIM Emperor Muchnieg I. Almost immediately after, Taolinia left the Union by the virtue of it ceasing to exist. Its successor state, Easpor then briefly joined the Union before it too ceased to exist. The nation aspired for greatness from the start, joining many micronational communities, including the Cupertino Alliance, which it was admitted to on the 31st March, a moment of great pride for the nation. On the 16th April 2020, the nation celebrated its first month of independence.

Withdrawal, Development and Improvement

As the United Kingdom entered into lockdown, the Union enjoyed a period of great activity. Much of this activity was concentrated on the development of a Constitution and the improvement of the original website, hosted on WordPress. During this time, the Union withdrew itself from the wider micronational community, with many of the organisations it had joined falling apart, with the notable exception of the Cupertino Alliance, which it maintained its membership to. When the original WordPress site crashed due to the owner's WordPress Account being collapsed, the Website Development Team was founded to create an alternative, leading to the creation of this website. On the 29th of July, the nation achieved a major diplomatic advancement in its first in-person signing of a treaty with another micronation (the Kingdom of Humberlea), coordinated by Jayden Lycon of the Cupertino Alliance, who also signed on behalf of the nation. With the nation-wide lockdown ending and the leaders of the nation returning into education in September, the nation entered into a spell of inactivity punctuated by short bursts of activity, despite which work on the Constitution and the website continued.

We are named for the legally registered surname (Hausgurd - within the Union) of our leading founder and first Emperor.

Our Motto

Our motto is Por le Seignour que nous servons, French for "For the Lord we server. This has no religious significance, but represents the shared loyalty the Citizens and parts of the Union have to the Emperor.

Our national animal is the lion, this represents the loyalty of our Citizens and constituent parts of the nation, as well as the bravery and courage displayed by the Founders.

Our Vision

Our Vision is one of an independent sovereign state, based on the principles of the Montenesco Convention. In achieving this, we follow the below core tenets.

Freedom

We believe that everyone should be able to express their thoughts, opinions and beliefs freely without threat of persecution.

Justice

That all are equal in the eyes of the law, but the law may also be adapted to personal situation. This includes the fundamental rights to a fair and open trial and to be presumed innocent until proven guilty.

Monarchy

This entails a monarch (in our case the Emperor) as the supreme Head of State, with all the powers that bestows. We believe the monarch should represent the Union as a whole both at home and abroad, and be responsible for the continuation of that unity.

Equality

We believe that all are equal, regardless of race, religion, beliefs, age, nationality, socioeconomic status, sex, gender, marital status, health, colour or creed.

Accessibility of Information

That the government shall be transparent unless failure to do so would cause a breach of national security or information privilege. The Citizens of the Union shall have the right to request any non-privileged information and be granted that information.

Democracy

That the government exists only to serve the needs of the people, and that, due to this, the people shall have a part in choosing who represents them and runs that government. That all elections shall be fair and anonymous, ran independently of the government, leading to results reflecting the electorate. That these results shall be made open and public in their original form within 48 hours of the closure of the election and that all Citizens shall be able to vote.

The Union shall be made of many semi-autonomous entities, with some rights and limited to full self-governance, bound together and united by the central, unified government and the structure of the H.U.C.
